Simhastha Kumbh Begins October 31, 2026: The ₹35,000 Crore Transformation
The Maharashtra State Cabinet has officially sanctioned an all-inclusive ₹35,000 crore development blueprint for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela. Ceremonial Dhwajarohan (sacred flag-hoisting) will take place at Ramkund and Trimbakeshwar on October 31, 2026, commencing a 21-month sacred calendar through July 24, 2028.
Unlike previous Melas where temporary works were dismantled post-event, this blueprint invests entirely in permanent municipal assets: a 66-kilometer Outer Ring Road, 21 new bridges spanning the Godavari, Darna, and Nandini rivers, and vast riverfront retention bunds designed to prevent historical monsoon flooding.
For visitors traveling between now and 2028, expect localized road diversions around Panchavati and Dwarka circle, but dramatically improved highway transit arriving from Mumbai and Pune.
